My Commitment to Teton County

Serving The Community

Over 57 years I have learned it takes a village! My commitment to you is to be your eyes, ears and voice on the Teton county school board. As a school board member, I promise to listen and ask questions, get answers and then do my best to get things done. My focus and priority are all of our students and teachers. As a Teton County School Board member, I will do my very best to provide teachers with the tools and resources to guide our students in reaching each student's dreams. Our collective investment in our teachers and students means a better future for all of us.

About Jerry Bosch

My father's family is from Shamokin, Pennsylvania on the west side of the Anthracite Coal Region. My great grandfather was a professional baseball player and my grandfather a golden glove boxer in the army. My father went to University of Dayton to play football and there he met my mother. I was born in Dayton Ohio at Miami Valley Hospital with the full head of hair you see in that picture. Both my grandparents and parents taught me about hard work, grit and taking life one day at a time.

My Path forward...

I owe a great deal of gratitude to numerous teachers and coaches that I had the privilege of learning from. One in particular represents the compassion and caring that helped me reach my goals. Bill Morgan (standing - second from the right) was my social studies teacher and defensive coach At Wilson High School. West Lawn, PA. You always knew he had your back and taught me grit and how to lead by example. I will never forget how Coach Morgan (and others) helped me gain confidence and a desire to learn. I cannot think of a better way to honor all those teachers and coaches than to work hard on the Teton County School Board to support our teachers and ALL of our students.

Education

I attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA where I obtained a degree in both economics and business management. I was a four-year letter recipient in football and elected as team captain my senior year by my teammates. I wasn't a vocal leader but always gave it my all at every practice and game. I always tried to lead by example. In 1988, I was nominated by Carnegie Mellon for a Rhodes Scholarship. I went on to graduate from University of Pittsburgh Law School in 1992 and obtained a Master of Law from Temple University in 2018.

Most of our family portraits are on Halloween

Am I a local yet?

I moved to Jackson January 2, 1998 to work for Spence Moriarity and Schuster. I fell in love with the people and mountains in 1996 and was constantly planning my way back. On Christmas eve 1999 I met my wife Nancy at a friends party playing music. We got married in 2003 at the Hardeman Barn In Wilson (pigs and all) . We have three amazing daughters Zoe, Eva and Liv. They each amaze us every day! I have now been in Jackson for over 25 years - I hope I qualify for "local" status.

Volunteer work

I have volunteered over my 57 years for numerous charities like the United Way and the MS Foundation. For close to 15 years, I have volunteered my time as a coach and mentor. For years I quest lectured the High School students involved in the "We the People" program. Almost every year for the past 10 years I have presented on law day to the elementary kids in our community. I was a volunteer soccer coach for the summer league kids program here in Jackson. I have also coached with JHYS, JHMS and JHHS. To all the kids that might read this it was immense pleasure to coach you and I learned so much from you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at jerrybosch2024@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I owe a great deal to several teachers, coaches and mentors. These folks saw something in me I didn't and without them I know I would not be the father, husband and friend I am today. I cannot think of a better way to

honor these great individuals then to "pay forward" the lessons they taught me. As my high school coach taught me - sometimes we all need just one person to simply stand beside us. I know from talking to many in our

community that we have folks that feel their voices are not being heard or represented. My door is always open. I am here to listen, ask questions, then listen some more. I believe in open, honest and respectful

discussion and debate with all members of our community. This must be accomplished without fear of retribution. To all the students I am running for you. To see you are given the opportunities you desire. To all the

teachers, I am here to make sure you have the resources and support to perform the magic you do. I am only one person and it truly takes a village! So I humbly ask for your support and your vote.

I am a trial attorney and business owner. I have degrees in economics and business from Carnegie Mellon University and a law degree from University of Pittsburgh. I have served as a school district attorney for several years when I started practice over 30 years ago. As a trial lawyer I am always trying to find out what happened. This is done through investigation and asking questions - lots of questions. What motivates people to do what they do is always at the heart of any case. I am naturally curious as to how and why things happen and what motivates folks. Quoting Ted Lasso I try to be "curious and not judgmental." Ironically, finding the answers is not as hard as finding the right

questions. What trail attorneys do with the information is tell their client's story. I have been a college professor, a teacher and instructor of trial tactics, coached various sports for 15 years, run a successful business and by far my most challenging yet rewarding occupation - father of three amazing daughters. Secret - it is my wife's doing not me.

Leaders come in all shapes and sizes. Being true to who you are as a person is the most effective way to lead. We all have different experiences that shape who we are as a person. Having seven different board members help to have effective leadership. Personally, I have led by example my whole life - whether it was sports or in a law firm. I never ask someone to do something I am not willing to do. I focus on taking blame and giving credit. at the end of the day it is my fault not my staff, my players, teachers or parents. We seem to spend a lot of time finding ways to blame - it is time to roll up our sleeves and get to work. Lastly, I try to listen, ask questions and listen some more before making any decisions. I generally can learn a lot more if I listen (two ears) then if I talk (one mouth).

I am not sure why these are placed on opposite ends of the scale to be "balanced." Parents and members of the community are an important part of providing education. I believe in open, honest and respectful discussion about issues. I don't automatically see the "desires" of parents or patrons as something that needs to be balanced. We have to start with the premises that we are in this together - teachers, students, parents and neighbors should be listened to and heard.

I try to approach life with a growth mindset. It is the process that is more important than the outcomes. We learn from our mistakes and failures to only get better as parents, friends, leaders and neighbors. If you believe you are the best at anything then there exists no room for improvement. It is the belief that no matter where you are you can always improve. Just recently two high school students solved a 2000 year-old problem believed to be impossible - using trigonometry to prove Pythagorean's Theorem. The mathematicians of the world had given up - sometimes a new perspective is all that is needed to solve the same old problems.
